The exhibition “porTĀLS pārEJA” presents sculptural objects by ceramic artist Dainis Lesiņš, in which colorful and visually enticing forms serve as a counterpoint to the ideas embodied in the works—those of limitation, conditionality, and the illusion of control. The structures draw on the language of architecture, its forms and details—especially the portal as a symbol of entrance or transition.

The objects simultaneously resemble cages, grids, or container-like constructions, symbolizing both boundaries and the illusion of freedom. They appear like small architectural models that one might imagine entering, yet they offer no true entrance or exit—within them lies a labyrinthine space that reflects the constrained nature of human life and consciousness.

Through these forms, the artist raises the question of how much we truly direct our own lives, and how much of our choices and decisions are in fact determined by external circumstances, systems, or invisible structures. The vivid colors lure the viewer closer, yet act as a mask for deeper reflections on the concepts of freedom, boundaries, and control.

The works are displayed inside a transparent glass cage, which further intensifies the sense of enclosure and visually transforms the space into part of the artwork itself—the viewer becomes an observer who sees the closed portal without the possibility of crossing it.

Dainis Lesiņš’s ceramics are not decorative; they are architectural sculptures of thought, where form and structure carry an equally weighty conceptual charge.

Izstāde “porTĀLS pārEJA” ir keramiķa Daiņa Lesiņa skulpturālu objektu ekspozīcija, kurā krāsainā un vizuāli vilinošā forma kalpo kā pretmets darbos iemiesotajām idejām par ierobežojumu, nosacītību un kontroles ilūziju. Struktūras atsaucas uz arhitektūras valodu, tās formām un detaļām - it īpaši portālu kā ieejas vai pārejas simbolu. Objekti vienlaikus atgādina būrus, režģus vai tilpnēm līdzīgas struktūras, kas simbolizē gan robežas, gan ilūziju par brīvību. Šie objekti šķiet kā mazi arhitektūras modeļi, kuros it kā iespējams iekļūt, taču tajos nav patiesas ieejas vai izejas – tajos slēpjas labirintiska telpa, kas simbolizē cilvēka dzīves un apziņas ierobežoto raksturu.

Caur šīm formām mākslinieks uzdod jautājumu par to, cik lielā mērā mēs paši virzām savu dzīvi, un cik daudz no mūsu izvēlēm un lēmumiem faktiski nosaka ārēji apstākļi, sistēmas vai neredzamas struktūras. Spilgtās krāsas vilina skatītāju tuvāk, taču kalpo kā maska dziļākām refleksijām par brīvības, robežu un kontroles jēdzieniem.

Izstādes darbi eksponēti caurspīdīgā stikla būrī, kas vēl vairāk pastiprina noslēgtības sajūtu un vizuāli transformē telpu par daļu no mākslas darba – skatītājs kļūst par vērotāju, kurš redz slēgto portālu, bez iespējas to šķērsot. Daiņa Lesiņa keramika nav dekoratīva, tā ir arhitektoniska domas skulptūra, kur forma un struktūra nes līdzvērtīgu konceptuālu slodzi.
